Bringing light into dark moments

During the past few weeks we’ve had many discussions about dreams and goals with my private coaching clients. First inspired by the winter Olympics. Sadly last week, these conversations sprang from a completely different source due to the recent, horrifying events.

The war in Europe has caused sadness, fear, feelings of meaninglessness, and a need to seek deeper purpose. What really matters now? was a question asked a lot.

Even though dreams and goals may seem insignificant at the moment, with a tweak to match the current situation, they can help bring light into dark moments. And help us move onwards, when we’d much rather stop. Especially, cause stopping to live our lives helps no one.

Right now, we do not only need to take care of others, but ourselves, too. If your mind is going through turbulent times and questioning what really matters, the following exercise might ease it a little bit and help you tune in with what you need at the moment.

Before going about the week, take some time to ponder upon the following questions:

  • What do I want for my life this week?
  • How do I want to feel in my life this week?
  • What action do I need to take to make these happen?
  • How do I begin and by when?

If you answer that you’d like to be of help, what’s in your power to do to be helpful? Rather than thinking only about things you can’t do, concentrate on what you can do.

If you answer that you’d like to feel safe, what’s in your power to do to feel and be safe?

If you answer that you’d like to make a difference, what’s in your power to make a difference?

How can you love thy neighbor?

No thing is insignificant, no matter how small or silly they may seem or feel. Every constructive act counts.

Much love,
Paula
