Stay open (minded)

I know many of you are experiencing yet another Covid-19 lock down, which may cause us thinking whether this will ever be over.

Just as the inauguration of the President Joe Biden and the Vice President Kamala Harris gave us hope that  things can change, so do we have to keep on believing that this situation with Covid, too, shall pass.

One of my favorite authors, Florence Scovel Shinn, talks about showing active faith even in the darkest times, meaning that we have to prepare for our good even when we don’t see it happening yet. When we change our expectancies, we change our conditions.

As said, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not (yet) seen.

With everything happening in the world right now, both near and far, this is not the time to give up on our faith. Not personally nor in your business and career.

Few weeks back we talked about connecting with your vision and your why. Then, backing those up with aligned systems and structures. Yet, visions, systems and structures mean nothing if not followed by aligned actions.

Now is the time for continuous actions in faith.

The time when we need to practice active faith and align our actions according to what we believe in, what we value and what we envision for the future.

The time when we need to keep on showing up for things that really matter, again and again. And be grateful that we get to do this.

Business wise, for me, it currently means that even though in the new project with my new coach, I come across things that I already know and practice in my life, I stay open and do not close my mind by saying to myself that ‘I already know this’. That kind of mentality would not serve anyone’s good.

Instead, I’m taking my commitment to a whole new level. In practice it means that I’m expecting more of myself in terms of engagement, participation and following the suggested advice.

When leveling your business up and investing in outside help to do that, you’re most likely coming across with advice you’ve heard before.

Now, the trick is not on whether the advice is new or not, the trick is in your mindset – how you respond to it.

To maximize your experience with any investment you make on yourself, or on your business, come with what I call “what’s in this for me” attitude.

Your expectations play a major role in your life, in everything you do, and when you expect to get something out of whatever experience is in question, this attitude helps you get just that.

It makes sure that you not only get what you came for, but also keeps your mind open for new discoveries and insights, even if some of the information you hear or come across with is already familiar to you.

This attitude has helped me numerous times to commit on learning and to deepen my understanding.

And I’m sure to keep my notebook and pen ready, cause when the insights come, I want to write them down!

For example, on this new project I mentioned earlier, we’re covering not only the marketing side of things, which I for sure need advice and help with, we’re also covering the mindset part, which is more familiar to me.

Thus, I’m revisiting books I’ve already read many times. I’m employing daily affirmations. I’m setting myself alarms to keep track of my mindset. I’m fine tuning my routines (especially morning ones). And I’m connecting daily, or more correctly many times a day, with the feeling I’m longing for.

I could say that I’ve already been doing these for a long time and overlook the suggested actions. Yet, I choose to stay open, commit to these and give my all, show active faith, as I’m sure there’s something in this for me to still notice (otherwise I would not have felt the need to say yes to this project).

Ask yourself:

  • Do my everyday actions prepare me for my good?
  • Are my day-to-day actions showing that I expect my good to come?
  • Are my actions showing active faith for things not yet seen in the physical world?
  • Or are my actions preparing me for the unwanted results?

Answering these questions and being honest with yourself, provides insights that guide you forward on your path.

I can’t wait to see what comes out of this!

Much love,
Paula
