The enemy of execution

“Sometimes people can inadvertently create a monster of a business.” Or a life.

That quote is from Julie Ritchie (I added the life part), my business strategist. She’s also a business coach for ambitious, soul-led coaches who want to sign more clients more easily.

I interviewed her in my podcast, episode 12, to discuss how to keep things simple in your business.

Why is simple important?

Because complexity is the enemy of execution.

Have you ever made things too complicated in your business? Got distracted by the latest fad in marketing, or gone down a rabbit-hole of technology?

Ending up with a business you don’t enjoy anymore? ????

Yep!

That was me few years back. And unfortunately, I’m not the only one. FOMO gets us doing silly things in our businesses.

About four years ago I wanted to up-level my business and joined a coaching programme to help me do that.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t a right fit for me.

But I didn’t realise it at first. It took me quite a long time to notice how I had started to dread the mornings, not wanting to get up, feeling completely overwhelmed.

All because I had made my business too complicated.

I had totally bought the idea that up-leveling equals to more complex systems and structures. Going after the latest fads in marketing, stretching myself too thin by trying to be everywhere and do everything.

Luckily I woke up from that nightmare. By being conscious of what I really wanted to create. And keeping things simple.

What do you want to create in your business? And life?
