Every year on September 5th we celebrate Entrepreneurs Day in Finland. This year it’s my 10th year in business and 10th time I get to celebrate this day as an entrepreneur myself.
Starting out nine and a half years ago, I had a big dream, somewhat clear vision and a ton of enthusiasm.
I was determined to change what then felt impossible into possible.
Many said I was crazy to give up on my corporate position and start a business, especially when we had a family of five with three under five year-old children.
However, that didn’t stop me.
All my life I’ve made the big important life decisions on my own, only telling a small selected group of people before I was sure of my own decision.
This has proven to be a good strategy even when running your business.
Of course, it doesn’t mean that you don’t listen to what others have to say about it. But it does mean that the average nay-sayer doesn’t have a role in your business or life.
It’s too easy to get lost in a world full of (unsolicited) advice.
What I’ve learned is that, as with anything new in business or life, the process goes through the same phases.
It starts with a wild idea, which often feels impossible in the beginning.
For example, throughout the years in my business, my mentors have kept asking me the same question of what if I could make the same amount of money in a month that I did in a year before.
A little side note. This has nothing to do with making more money, this has everything to do with changing the patterns of your thought.
It gives you an opportunity to step outside the usual train of thoughts, to find new ideas and make a bigger impact.
From personal experience, I can tell that the first time I was asked what if I could make €27K in a month (as it back then was my yearly sales) it felt more than impossible.
But little did I know.
Going through the process (and working through the emotions that came with it), what once was impossible is now given, and more. Now €27K can’t only be made in a month, it can be made in a week or a day. Even much more.
This applies to everything in business (and in life) and it has to do with the process of creation. You see, we create everything twice in this world – first mentally and then physically.
As Winston Churchill said, “The empires of the future are the empires of the mind”.
In going through the phases of the process, the hardest work you need to do, is the work within, and everything else follows.
