Building a confident mindset

I’ve been asked many times what helped me jump out of my corporate position and set up my own business. The answer to that question is: confident mindset.

What do you mean by confident mindset? What is it?

Well, thank you for asking.

But the answer to that is not so simple. You see, confident mindset is different things for different people. Why? Because we are in different situations with different backgrounds and life experiences. What might mean confidence to me, may well be something different for you.

However, the principle behind confident mindset is that you believe you are capable of doing whatever it is that you’re doing. Or wanting to do.

That you have a goal and you trust in your ability to achieve your goal. You also are aware of your strengths and weaknesses. And you acknowledge that you may not succeed at your first attempt.

Your self-confidence increases when you practice your skills and you have a feeling that you know what you are doing.

So it’s natural to have that feeling of lack of self confidence when doing something new or something you are not yet comfortable with – it just means that you’re in the learning phase and it’ll get better with practice.

That’s why I like to keep my answer broadly at confident mindset, especially if there’s no chance of explaining it more in detail. Cause when I say confident mindset, you all make your own assumptions of what it means. And that’s good!

I do, however, like to explore the topic whenever I get an opportunity to do so. There were (and still are) many things that helped me to build a confident mindset. One of the firsts was to realize that we all need a confidence boost at times. And that it’s ok.

This thought still regularly calms me. I don’t know about you, but I sure can tell you that a confidence boost is what I regularly need and it certainly does not help, if I believe that I’m the only one.

So, if you’ve ever thought ill of yourself because you feel like you need a confidence boost, thinking that surely no one else needs one, then you can now sigh of relief as you know that I, too, need an occasional confidence boost. Regularly.

Because there isn’t anything like self-doubt that stops us from doing what we would like in life. The continuous negative and disempowering self talk, that many often don’t even notice is going on, makes one feel less confident, shakes the sense of self-worth and self-esteem, and keeps you stuck with thoughts like:

  • Who am I to even want this
  • Nothing is working out for me
  • I should be more courageous
  • I am not good enough
  • I’m too shy or too introverted
  • This is just too hard for me
  • I can’t, because …

Not to mention of the crippling thought of you thinking you’re the only one in the world feeling this way as others are (or seem to be) so confident all the time.

Well, you already know that the latter is not true. You’re not alone! I’m with ya! And thoughts like those mentioned above occur to most people every so often – even to ones who seem so confident and having it all figured out.

That’s why I created an online mini-course for living a confident life. The ideas and tips I cover in this course helped me to be aligned with the principle of confident mindset in the beginning of my own entrepreneurial life. They still do.

The tips I share, which really are small tasks for you to do, if you choose to, support you when facing fears or doubts. They give you the understanding and experience of how these ideas really can shape your mindset and affect your life. As I told you, I keep coming back to these from time to time.

So, if you have a habit to hesitate and doubt, and then feel not confident and worthy enough, pulling back from life’s adventures, then this course is your opportunity to strengthen your confidence muscles. Align with who you really are and get ready for the bigger and better adventures you’ve longed for.

It’s time for you to say YES to life’s calling!

Much love,
Paula
